SAND AND SPECIES SOCIETY

Our story & purpose

A shared curiosity. A place to contribute. A growing record of our region.

OUR PURPOSE

Local knowledge.
Shared responsibility.

We are Sand and Species Society, a student-led society at Thal University Bhakkar. We bring our interest in zoology into the field through observation, learning and community participation.

Our proposed digital biodiversity initiative documents observations from Bhakkar and Thal, helps contributors seek identification, and preserves the society’s activities for future members. We aim to grow a reliable record gradually, rather than claim a complete inventory of the region.

OBSERVATION

Start with evidence

Original images and useful field notes are the foundation of a meaningful record.

LEARNING

Make room for uncertainty

Not every organism can be identified from one photograph. A broader identification can be more honest.

CONTINUITY

Leave something useful

Our digital archive helps future cabinets learn from the work already done.

How the project works

1. Community submissions

Contributors submit photographs with dates, approximate locations and habitat notes.

2. Responsible review

Designated reviewers assess evidence, add identification notes and decide whether to publish.

3. A living resource

Published observations support education and generate questions for further study.

The website draws workflow inspiration from iNaturalist and NatureSpot. It is an independent society project and is not affiliated with either platform.
